1 min. readA cryptocurrency address linked to the $305 million DMM Bitcoin hack in May has reportedly moved 500 Bitcoin, valued at around $30.4 million. The suspect address split the funds into two separate addresses, each receiving approximately 250 BTC. The transferred funds are believed to be part of the stolen haul from the DMM Bitcoin exchange. The attack has been attributed to the Lazarus Group, a hacking organization allegedly tied to North Korea. The attackers have been laundering the stolen funds through various methods, including transferring them to new wallets and using privacy mixers. The DMM Bitcoin exchange has taken measures to prevent further unauthorized outflows. This incident contributes to the increasing trend of cryptocurrency thefts in 2024, with losses totaling over $473 million. Despite a decrease in overall illegal activity on blockchain networks, stolen funds and ransomware inflows have seen a significant rise compared to the previous year.
