Hong Kong Launches GenA.I. Sandbox for Finance

1 min. readThe Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has introduced a generative artificial intelligence (GenA.I.) sandbox for finance in partnership with Cyberport. Revealed during the FiNETech2 event, the GenA.I. sandbox aims to explore AI applications in finance like risk management and customer services. Carmen Chu, an executive director at HKMA, highlighted the sandbox's role in facilitating collaboration between financial institutions and tech companies to experiment with AI solutions. Eddie Yue, the chief executive of HKMA, emphasized the sandbox's support for banks to pilot new GenA.I. use cases within a controlled environment. Additionally, HKMA conducted a training session for local banks on practical AI strategies. While HKMA promotes AI adoption, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong is cracking down on unlicensed crypto exchanges. The HKMA's initiative aligns with the Fintech 2025 strategy to boost fintech adoption in Hong Kong.
