Legal Battle Over Extradition of Terraform Labs Founder
Saturday. August 10 at 1:30 AM
1 min. readThe Supreme Court of Montenegro has delayed the extradition of Do Kwon, founder of Terraform Labs, to South Korea pending a review of previous court decisions. The Supreme State Prosecutor’s Office requested a delay to assess the legality of extradition orders issued by the High Court in Podgorica and the Court of Appeal. Concerns were raised about the legality of these decisions under Montenegro’s Law on International Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. The Supreme Court, led by Judge Seka Piletić, granted the postponement until a decision on the legality review is made. This legal saga began when Do Kwon was arrested in March 2023 while trying to flee to Dubai. Conflicting court rulings initially approved his extradition to the US, then to South Korea. Do Kwon's defense attorney criticized the actions, alleging abuse of power. The case, involving the collapse of the Terra/LUNA cryptocurrency ecosystem, has sparked controversy and political tensions in Montenegro.
