1 min. readRiot Platforms Inc., the third largest Bitcoin miner on Wall Street, has raised its ownership in Bitfarms Ltd. by purchasing an additional 1 million common shares. This $2.28 million transaction brings Riot's total shares in Bitfarms to 85.3 million, up from 84.3 million, giving Riot a 18.9% stake in the Canadian mining company. The acquisition is part of the ongoing rivalry between the two mining firms. Despite a failed acquisition attempt by Riot in May, tensions persist. Riot has recently pushed for changes in Bitfarms' board, resulting in the departure of a key member. Riot continues to evaluate its investment in Bitfarms and may propose further changes. Additionally, Riot recently acquired Block Mining for $92.5 million, expanding its operations beyond Texas. The deal includes cash, stock, and potential future payments based on performance.
