1 min. readRipple, a prominent provider of crypto payment infrastructure, has been granted an in-principle license by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) to establish operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The approval, announced on Oct. 1, is a crucial step towards obtaining a full license in Dubai, enabling Ripple to offer cross-border payment services for both fiat and digital assets within the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). By meeting specific requirements, including securing office space in the DIFC, companies in the crypto sector can obtain a full license from the authority. Ripple aims to become the first blockchain-based payment services provider licensed by the DFSA, with plans to introduce its digital asset infrastructure in the UAE. Additionally, Dubai's strategic location is seen as a gateway to emerging crypto markets in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. Despite this progress, Dubai's Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA) recently imposed stricter guidelines for companies promoting digital asset investments in the UAE, emphasizing the importance of responsible service delivery.
