US Congressman Reveals Altcoin Investments
Wednesday. August 28 at 7:30 AM
1 min. readMike Collins, the representative for Georgia's 10th Congressional District, disclosed three altcoin investments while serving in Congress. In financial reports filed from July to August, Collins revealed purchases of up to $15,000 in Velodrome (VELO), The Graph (GRT), and Aerodrome Finance (AERO). He also partially sold his AERO holdings before making another purchase. Collins stands out as one of the few lawmakers actively trading tokens with smaller market caps, in contrast to popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ether. He also disclosed buying Ethereum earlier. With the 2024 election approaching, many candidates, including Collins, are taking stances on digital assets. Some, like Senators Ted Cruz and Cynthia Lummis, have also disclosed crypto investments. The STOCK Act requires US lawmakers to report their investments, but some senators are pushing for amendments to prevent stock trading by members of Congress, citing ethical concerns and a loss of public trust in democratic institutions.
